An introduction to the teaching of English as a Second Language (ESL). Survey of methods and materials that address reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills for elementary, secondary, and adult learners in ESL settings. Applications are made within language and content area instruction. Topics include a historical overview of ESL techniques, total physical response, storytelling, the role of grammar, teaching pronunciation, and the use of journals. Co-requisite MCTE 332. (0.5 course).
