Emphasis on the chronological study of significant works of art from the Renaissance through the 21st century. Works are examined in their context in order to gain a more complete understanding of how art reflects the particular time and place in which it was produced, and how that understanding translates into contemporary time. The course is expected to provide an understanding and appreciation of art and art history. Two primary approaches to the study of art and art history will be used. Formal and Contextual Analysis as a means to develop each student's personal interpretations. This course meets the requirement for Beauty and Meaning in Works of Art. (1.0 course.)
